    Subjects both serious and frivolous are apt to be humorous, according to D.L. Hughley.

    The actor-comedian -- a star and writer of the sitcom The Hughleys, which ran for four years on ABC and UPN -- will perform Friday through Sunday in the Funny Bone Comedy Club.

    Landmark sign damaged by car is set to return as good as new

    A fallen landmark on N. High Street near Graceland Shopping Center can't return soon enough for confounded drivers who have relied on the distinctive and inspirational beacon for half a century.

    The 25-foot-tall sign - known through the decades for its weekly sayings showcased in plastic letters - remained upright; but a decorative apron and a planter were destroyed and much of the wiring shorted out. (The driver wasn't injured.)
